In April 2025, the Old Southeast Neighborhood Association (OSNA) proudly expanded its commitment to urban greening with a free tree giveaway during our much-loved Annual Plant Swap & Art Raffle. This year’s event was more than just a celebration of local plants and creativity — it was an opportunity to grow our tree canopy, one yard at a time.

Thanks to generous support and coordination with city partners, OSNA distributed 100 free fruit trees to Old Southeast neighbors — including banana, pomegranate, avocado, and native varieties. The tree giveaway was designed to encourage sustainable landscaping, reduce urban heat, and provide long-term environmental benefits to our neighborhood.

The initiative was part of OSNA’s broader Tree Grant Program, which also supports residents with grants toward tree purchases for their properties. OSNA volunteers were on hand to talk with more than 40 residents about the grant process, planting tips, and long-term tree care.

Our neighbors didn’t just take-home greenery — they left with purpose. With over 130 attendees, this year’s event underscored our community’s passion for conservation, beauty, and growth.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to plant, grow, and give back — because in OSE, we don’t just build homes, we plant roots.
